How To Find Keywords For SEO

When it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) many people don't know where to start. The best place to start is by figuring out which keywords you want to target. In other words - which keywords do you think people are likely to type into a search engine to find products and services like yours. Here's a step by step approach you can use to figuring out which keywords you need to target and include in your SEO efforts.

Step 1_ Think of a keyword or phrase you would use to search for a product or service like yours on the internet.

Step 2_ Go to https_//adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and type the keywords or phrases you think someone might use to find your products or services into the field provided and click search.

Step 3_ You should now see a list of keywords and phrases. To the right of each keyword and phrase will be the number of times per month each is searched. Click on the words "Global Monthly Searches" and the suggested keywords and phrases will be re-ordered by popularity.

Step 4_ Comb through the list and find the most popular keywords which are relevant to the product or service your website is about. If you're creating an information website the same rules still apply.

Step 5_ Use the top 8 keywords in the meta tags, meta description, page title, and as tags when submitting your articles or web pages to social bookmarking sites and the likes.

Keep creating new content and submitting these links to popular news sites, social bookmarking, and other services and it won't be long before you're showing up in the search engine rankings for the keywords you targeted and driving relevant traffic to your website.
