Editing Your DNS

You have the ability to edit and manage all aspects of your DNS, including your Name Servers, A Records, MX Records, Domain Registration Information and more.


How do I change my DNS?

You can edit the DNS settings for your domain name at any time as follows…

Step 1: Click the ‘Manage Domains’ tab from within your account dashboard.

Step 2: Click the Pencil icon next to the domain name you wish to make changes to.

Step 3: Click the Pencil icon next to ‘DNS Settings’ to access the DNS for the domain name.

Step 4: You can edit an existing record by editing the displayed values and clicking the ‘Update’ button.

Step 5: You can delete any record by placing a check in the Delete column next to the appropriate record and clicking the ‘Update’ button.

Step 6: To add a new DNS record, choose the type of record you are adding (A record, MX record, etc) and then enter the details for that record in the fields below your existing DNS and click ‘Add New Record’.

Note: Any change you make to your DNS can take some time to resolve. Usually you will see these changes within a few hours, but it can take up to a full 48 hours to fully propagate.


How do I change my Name Servers?

In the event you wish to point your domain name to another provider, you can edit the Name Servers within your account dashboard.

Take a look at the steps below to change your name servers…

Step 1: Click the ‘Manage Domains’ tab from within your account dashboard.

Step 2: Click the Pencil icon next to the domain name you wish to make changes to.

Step 3: Select the ‘Unlocked’ radio button next to Domain Locking followed by ‘Save’ to unlock the domain.

Step 4: Enter your new Name Servers in the fields labeled 1: and 2: and click the ‘Save’ button again to save the new Name Servers.

Please note: Any change you make to your DNS can take some time to resolve. Usually you will see these changes within a few hours, but it can take up to a full 48 hours to fully propagate.


How do I update my registration information?

ICAAN requires that you keep up to date records for your domain name, including current name, address, email address and phone number. You may be asked to confirm this information from time to time during the life of your domain name so it is critical that this info remain current.

To make changes to your domain registration information at any time, please take a look at the following steps…

Step 1: Click the ‘Manage Domains’ tab from within your account dashboard.

Step 2: Click the Pencil icon next to the domain name you wish to edit the registration information for.

Step 3: Select the ‘Unlocked’ radio button next to Domain Locking followed by ‘Save’ to unlock the domain.

Step 4: Edit each field as required, making sure to save your changes by clicking the ‘Save’ button.

How do I unlock my domain name?

Just about any change you make to your domain name will first require you to unlock it. Domain locking is provided to ensure that no changes can be made unless you explicitly want to make them.

To unlock your domain name, click the ‘Manage Domains’ tab from within your account dashboard and click the Pencil icon next to the domain name you wish to edit. From here, select the ‘Unlocked’ radio button next to Domain Locking and click Save. Your domain name is now unlocked allowing you to now make changes to it. Don’t forget to lock your domain again by selecting the ‘Locked’ radio button and click save once you are done making the required changes
