First and Foremost- Mise
En Place is a French phrase meaning
"To Put In
Place" this phrase is used in professional kitchen. This is the foundation for
organizing your meals and kitchen. To take it a few steps further we will Mise
en Place ourselves and plan before we begin in the kitchen.
Assessment
- You will need to assess
your current nutritional daily intake.
The first step is to determine what your goal
would be, one goal could be to benefit from having homemade meals that are
nutritional sound and actually take less time and money to prepare.
It will be beneficial to get an idea of your
current nutritional needs and see what areas you can improve upon.
To do this you should record everything that you
are currently cooking and eating at this time. The more detailed this diary is
the more accurate you can be and have more accurate results
Planning-
You will learn how to plan
your meals and learn what foods should be eaten and when, also how to get
organized to maximize your time
Having the right plan will assist in meeting
your nutritional needs and will allow you to prepare for meals in an efficient
manner where you can streamline prep time by producing food for multiple meals
at the same time.

for multiple meals
Purchasing-
Learn how a planned shopping
list will ensure that you can provide your family with the right fuel, know
what foods to buy.
Most of your groceries can be found on the
perimeter of the store in the Produce, Meats, and Dairy sections have nutrient
dense foods.
Try to use a variety of colors to ensure a
variety of vitamins and minerals.
Once you have established a meal plan or group
of recipes you can streamline your shopping list according to your needs for
each week with.
Preparation-
Learn from Cooking
Demonstrations from the Chef for the "Tricks of the Trade"
On day one of preparation you will want to prep
all like items together. Such as all of your vegetable chopping, fruits,
proteins, Mise en Place all of your meals for the next few days and
prepare
fully the meals that are going to be a "Heat and Eat" meal.
You will probably
be able to have two days where you are doing all of the prep for the week.
The next 3 or 4 days you will spend much less
time actually preparing your families meals.
