My name is Sharon Fortner Wright. I was born and raised in Marks, Quitman County, Mississippi. I graduated from Delta Academy in 1971.
I returned to Quitman County to live in 1996.
My family came from South Carolina thru Alabama between 1833-1836. They settled in Mississippi in the late 1830's. My family moved to Quitman County in 1930.
The information in this website comes from "Works Progress Administration for Mississippi, Source Material for Mississippi History, Quitman County, Volume LX", compiled by State-Wide Historical Research Project, Susie V. Powell, State Supervisor, Illustrated 1936-1938. There is a book for each of the 82 counties in Mississippi.

This website is dedicated to the memory of my cousin, Harry Russell Johnson, Jr. (1927-2005), who helped me get started researching my family history by giving me, free of charge, two volumes of his research.
